MvC2 Mode

----------------------------------------

Pick three characters and fight in madcap fighting action!

(Gameplay is the same as MvC2, three character teams, four attack buttons, one assist button. Last boss is Thanos, Darkseid, and either Doom or Luthor, depending on the number of either Marvel or DC characters in your team. Ending is similar to MvC2's ending, a generic showing of all the characters with peaceful music.)

----------------------------------------

Story Mode

----------------------------------------

Adventure Mode Explanation: Adventure Mode is essentially a variation on Soul Calibur 2's Conquest Mode.  It's a non-linear semi-RPG done in story format where you have to take one character plus two more you pick as CPU partners and meet and defeat certain challenges to win, ending with a final challenge. All the fights in this Mode will be done in fighting game-style, and not RPG-style, giving you control of your CPU partners as tag-team partners. There will also be random encounters with minor, faceless lackies that vary in difficulty as you go throughout the levels, that you and your two CPU partners will have to fight in Action Game format.

There is no right path to go through this mode, as the computer varies it depending on whom you pick, and sometimes you'll be given control of one or more characters that don't appear in the regular fighting game, and have to rescue or fight the characters you picked initially.  The story varies from character to character.

For instance: Let's say you start Adventure Mode by picking Batman.

Your path through this mode will possibly have you trying to track down and defeat Deadshot through a multi-level stage, solve various word challenges to fight the Riddler, fight Crossbones while badly poisoned, get captured by Mad Hatter and have to be rescued by Nightwing, track down and defeat a series of Marvel and DC Bizzaros, tag-team with a new character of your choice to fight off Electro, test your worth to be hired by the Wild Pack by defeating Sandman, chase down and defeat Hobgoblin in a mid-air battle, or even be possessed by the Uni-Power and be forced to fight against Eternity or Infinity, try and figure out reality puzzles that Mr.Mxyzptlk sends at you, get two new partners and defeat Dr.Octopus, and end your path by fighting against Bane, who's out for revenge against you.

That's just one possible path, one of the shorter ones. The thing of it is, you don't just immediately go from fight to fight. In between challenges is a section drawn in action stage format. You'll have to FIND where each battle is, and question one of the many heroes and/or villains that pops up while searching for an end-boss to this mode. The minimum of fights you have to go through to open up the end-bosses of Adventure Mode is 8, and you have to beat AT LEAST 4 end-bosses before the Mode ends.

Boss Prizes!!

==========================

Darkseid, Thanos, Red Architect, Blue Architect, Living Tribunal, Spectre, and the Amalgam characters would be unusable in Adventure Mode & the non-story Arcade Modes without a Gameshark.  Doom and Luthor do have a boss code that allows you to use them, however.

Defeat Adventure Mode with Dr.Doom and you get: X-Men Arcade!

A rehashed & retooled version of the X-Men Arcade game by Konami (permission would have to be gotten to do this), complete with Cyclops, Wolverine, Storm, Colossus, Nightcrawler, and Dazzler as selectable characters. (Colossus and Wolverine would get better Mutant Attacks: A shockwave punch that spreads out over the ground instead of an energy field and a Berserker Barrage instead of a laser claw respectively.) It would have action stages, and once you get to the bosses, you have the option of fighting them as action stage bosses or fighting-game style.

Bosses (in order you face them first to last): Pyro, Blob, Sabretooth, Sentinel, White Queen, Juggernaut, Post, Mystique, Magneto

Sentinel would be the one from Marvel vs. Capcom 2 and Magneto would have his XM:COTA movelist and AI, along with his MvC2 Magnetic Tempest and rushdown ability.

Defeat Adventure Mode with Lex Luthor and you get: JLA Arcade!

Same thing as X-Men Arcade, only with Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, Red Tornado, and Manitou.  Bosses would be different, though.

Bosses (in order you face them first to last): Solomon Grundy, Star Sapphire, Mirror Master, Dr.Light, Ocean Master, Circe, Joker, Metron, and Lex Luthor

Adventure Mode Characters

========================

There are some characters that you get control of during some points in Adventure Mode.  Some are basically different versions of the Arcade Mode fighters, like USAgent was to Captain America in Marvel Super Heroes vs. Street Fighter, and have either parts of the movelist of the character he/she is copying, or the whole movelist, just toned down in some areas.  Some characters have completely unique movelists, and some characters mix both copied moves and new ones.

Here are the winnable characters you encounter during various events in Adventure Mode, either as characters who take the place of the ones you selected initially, or as NPCS.

How To Play As Adventure Mode Characters

================================================

This is where Online Play and Versus Mode becomes important.  Once you encounter the above characters in Adventure Mode, they become available in a secret "Shop" that opens up in the Options menu once you beat Adventure Mode with all the Arcade Modes characters.  To earn these characters, you have to earn points by defeating HUMAN opponents.  Beating the computer nets you nothing.  You have to get high scores while fighting human opponents, win or lose, to purchase these characters.  And I mean HIGH scores, because a lot of these characters are expensive.  However, getting all the Adventure Mode characters can be made easier through creative trading on a VMU-like memory unit.

Here are some of the various boss characters you encounter for various events in Adventure Mode.  Please note that not every encounter will be a straight up fight.  Sometimes you will have to hunt for the boss, or solve riddles, or race the boss, or fight under adverse stage conditions, or be forced into fighting the boss while high in the sky, or while poisoned, or while your gender is switched, or while your body is shrunken/grown/morphed in some way.  (Will update who has what special fight feature as I think of them.)  There is NO specific order to fighting these characters to win, except that you have to beat AT LEAST eight characters that are at Mid-Boss Status, then beat AT LEAST four characters that are at End-Boss Status.  (The trick, though, is actually FINDING them.  Heh.  You have to work for your challenges.)

===============

For Marvel

Mid-Boss Status

===============

Trapster (trap-filled stage, mainly glue-bombs and bear-traps)

Hobgoblin (fight in the air, forces you to fight on a flying platform if you don't already have flying powers.  Non-fliers are at EXTREME risk of falling to their deaths via ring-out unless a special item has been found beforehand.  Beware and be careful, warriors...)

Boomerang (multi-level stage, fight on a highway.  Onrushing cars also act as deathtraps...)

Electro (trap-filled stage, fight is on a set of powerlines)

Hydro-Man (Abyss(MVC2)-esque stage, only much harder)

Sandman (important fight, if you win Silver Sable gives you info on where to find MANY characters, & your characters become Wild Pack members.  You retain your Wild Pack status throughout the Adventure Mode scenario you're currently in, which makes finding harder characters easier.)

Constrictor (fights like a faster Omega Red with only Coil throws and Omega Destroyer)

Whirlwind (Normal fight.  Nothing special here.)

Rhino (has only two moves he pirated from Birdie (SF) & Juggernaut: Bull Head and Headcrush)

Molecule Man (Chaos Match: Takes place in a realm where anything can happen.)

Klaw (Normal fight.  Nothing special here.)

Crossbones (poisons you badly before you fight him)

Nebula (important fight, leads you to Thanos if you win)

Madame Masque (important fight, gives you clues to Count Nefaria's location if you win.  If you can catch her after you win, that is.)

Four Horsemen (your initially chosen characters & one other Arcade Mode character chosen at random turned evil.  Fight Apocalypse immediately afterwards if you win.)

Alkhema (important fight, gives you a clue as where to find Ultron)

Bombshell (trap-filled stage.  Lots of explosives)

Blacklash (Exceedingly wide stage with many rings for swinging attacks)

Fabian Cortez (Normal fight.  Nothing special here.)

Carmela Unuscione (Normal fight.  Nothing special here.  Second-to-last fight before Magneto.)

Toad (Garden Stage.  Many places for both you and Toad to hide)

Shocker (Handicap match: He zaps you from behind HARD before the fight begins)

Siena Blaze (Siena's aura is destabalizing: Your controls occasionally invert)

Living Laser (Energy-based attacks heal him)

Vulture (does not come out of the air until beaten)

Mysterio (must fight as action-stage boss)

Lady Deathstrike (Normal fight.  Nothing special here.)

Bullseye (rooftop & back-allies stage.  Have to find him before he kills you sniper-style)

Mojo (multi-level extremely disorienting stage: TV LAND MOJO STYLE!!)

Holocaust (Death Match: you will steadily lose life as you fight him)

Abomination (Timed Match: you HAVE TO WIN before the timer hits zero, or a Gamma Bomb will go off and turn both you and Abomination into monsters for the Double KO)

Doctor Bong (Melee match: Fight your way to the boss through a bunch of thugs.)

Spiral (fight as your chosen character's opposite gender.  Once Spiral is beaten with a particular character, that character's opposite gender form can be chosen at the Character Select Screen with PKP or KPK.)

Silver Samurai (Normal fight.  Nothing special here.)

Omega Red (Normal fight.  Nothing special here.)

Shuma-Gorath (Normal fight.  Nothing special here.)

Blackheart (Normal fight.  Nothing special here.)

Grim Reaper (Timed Match: you HAVE TO WIN before the timer hits zero, or both Wonder Man and the Grim Reaper get dragged down into Hell.)

Shriek (Important fight, gives you clues to finding Carnage.)

Man-Thing (Swamp Stage.  Keep moving or you'll sink into the bottom.  Turtling is FATAL...)

Avalanche (trap-filled stage.  Takes place on a mountain with things crumbling all around you)

Destiny (Normal fight, but interesting, because she uses nothing but counters as her attacks)
Fatale (Shadowed Street Stage: Several places are completely cloaked in darkness.)

Dark Beast (deathtrap stage: You fight next to the acidic Gene Pool)

Sugar Man (Two Options: Fight him, or pay him for clues to find Fatale & Dark Beast)

Prime Sentinel A (Timed Match: you HAVE TO WIN before the timer hits zero, or the Sentinel will self-destruct, knocking your character into Mastermold and turning him/her into a Prime Sentinel.)

Prime Sentinel B (Timed Match: you HAVE TO WIN before the timer hits zero, or the Sentinel will self-destruct, knocking your character into Mastermold and turning him/her into a Prime Sentinel.)

Amelia Vought (only appears after Magneto's path is unlocked.  Last fight before Magneto.)

Calypso (You have two lifemeters, one for life, one for free will.  A lot of Calypso's attacks decrease the free will meter instead of the lifemeter.  Lose the free will meter, then you lose the game.)

Pyro (Normal fight.  Nothing special here.)

Blob (Normal fight.  Nothing special here.)

Sabretooth (Normal fight.  Nothing special here.)

Sentinel (Normal fight.  Nothing special here.)

White Queen (Normal fight.  Nothing special here.)

Post (Normal fight.  Nothing special here.)

Mystique (Normal fight.  Nothing special here.)

Sven Kleinstock & Harlan Kleinstock (Dramatic Battle-ish.  Fight on Avalon after Scanner.)

Kraven The Hunter (Jungle Treetops multi-level stage.)

Scanner (Tricky fight, constantly scrolling stage.  Scanner challenges you the MOMENT you set foot onto Avalon, so be careful in the Senyaka fight.)

Mantis (important fight, gives you clues to finding Kang)

Senyaka (You MUST FIGHT SENYAKA FIRST if you want to find Avalon and get to Magneto)

Scorpion (Rescue stage: Scorpion will be trying to collapse a building on the imprisoned Spider-Man, and will avoid your characters.  Find him before he brings down the building.)

Cameron Hodge (X-Tinction Agenda version.)

Kaine (Kaine is fighting a random villain.  You have to stop him before he gets the villain's life to zero, at which point he will perform a Fatality.  If Kaine kills, it's game over.)

Black Tom & Juggernaut (Dramatic Battle)

===============

For Marvel

End Boss Status

===============

Exodus (bridgeway to fighting Magneto after his path is unlocked)

Dr.Octopus (multi-level stage.  You're given two new partners that aren't from arcade mode to help you rescue the ones Doctor Octopus has kidnapped)

Mr.Sinister (Deathmatch: Beams of evolutionary energy are zipping around the stage.  If you get hit by one, you start to mutate and take SEVERE damage.  If you lose after getting hit by one beam or more, you mutate into a freak.  Mr.Sinister cannot take damage from the beams.)

Shadow King (Shadow King IS the entire stage.  You can only damage him from his head or his personal locus, both of which he's very good at protecting.  Be careful)

Red Skull (multi-level stage)

Kang (Time Distortion Fight.  The field keeps resetting itself, making it near impossible to orient.)

Dr.Doom (Normal fight.  Nothing special here.)

Thanos (Normal fight.  Nothing special here.)

Baron Zemo (Rescue Match: If you lose, Zemo with slash Captain America's throat open.)

Loki (Fight in Hel's realm, so you may end up fighting previously beaten villains...)

Mandarin (Normal Match.  He's hard enough to beat on his own...)

Ultron (Normal Match.  He's hard enough to beat on his own...  If your character is not organic, he'll try to get you to join him.  Saying yes costs you the game and any characters you've unlocked.)
Kingpin (Deathmatch: Fight on the top of a large tower.  [Rather silly if a flier loses, because once they fall for a bit, they remember they can fly and look mad at themselves.])

Cerebro (Warning: Cerebro has an instant match-ender move: The Cataloguer Beam)

Absorbing Man & Titania (Dramatic Battle)

Annihilus (Parallax stage: Stage constantly shifts angles)

Super-Skrull (Normal Match.  He's hard enough to beat on his own...)

Eternity (your chosen character gains Uni-Power to fight him)

Infinity (your chosen character gains Uni-Power to fight her)

Galactus (you don't fight him. You must fight through and destroy various levels of his world-eating machine, along with occasional robots, destroying the top section last of all.  Match must end with your character taunting after destroying the top section)

Count Nefaria (Unwinnable Match: You just have to survive until the timer runs out.)

Taskmaster (Normal Match.  He's hard enough to beat on his own...)

Crimson Cowl (Normal Match.  She's hard enough to beat on her own...)

Trevor Fitzroy (Timed Match: You have to stop him from killing Hellions until time runs out.)

Wizard (Multi-Level Trap Stage: You're dueling Wizard in a trap room of his own design.)

Graviton (One of your teammates is replaced with Moonstone)

Viper (Melee Super Match: Fight your way through a bunch of thugs AND the boss.)

Mephisto (new sprite, harder AI, new moves)

Carnage (Normal fight.  Nothing special here.)

Odin (Prize match: Character bonuses that can be used in Arcade mode await the winner)

Abyss (Abyss IS the entire stage.  You can only damage him from his head, which he's very good at protecting.  Be careful, and don't let his tendrils start wrapping around you.  If they do, it's over...)

Bastion (Rescue Mission Match: Your characters are kidnapped, and you're forced to rescue them all using any combo of Iceman, Dr.Reyes, Marrow, & Sabra)

Adventure Mode: What's Next?

==========================

Alright then.  You've unlocked every character in Adventure Mode and gotten them to join the Arcade Modes.  What's left to do?  Plenty.  Keep playing through Adventure Mode with the characters you purchased.  You'll get lots and lots of new prizes.  New pathways and stories will open up in Adventure Mode, new Special Team Supers will be available in the Arcade Modes, and hey, who knows: Maybe you could eventually earn the Bosses from various Modes and other extra-type characters for the normal Arcade Modes as well.  This game, which will be thoroughly playtested to maintain at least SOME form of balance, will have lots of replay value, both for hardcore Fighting Game fans looking for multiple character team combinations to experiment with and a CHALLENGING AI with DECENT, well-drawn and mildly amusing endings to the 1P mode, and to casual RPG & Action Game fans who like a good beat-'em-up with some storyline behind it.

Game File Protections

==========================

You can use a Gameshark to unlock and play as bosses from the various modes that are normally unplayable, as well as unlocking the Hidden and Adventure Mode characters as well.  However, don't dare try to save if you use Gameshark to access these characters, as this will corrupt your memory card completely and permanently.

The game program will contain a powerful virus that will completely destroy the hard drive of anyone who tries to make or play a ROM of this game.  So there.  Ha.
